DR CLAIRE MITCHELL
ABOUT
Dr Claire Mitchell is a warm-hearted specialist surgeon who treats a wide range of endocrine and other surgeries. Although she specialises in endocrine surgery, she also performs emergency surgical procedures and procedures related to soft tissue tumours, hernias and breast surgery. She is an expert in neck surgery and does not shy away from the challenges that these procedures entail.
As a devoted mother to three beautiful children, Dr Mitchell treats her patients with the same compassion and care she displays toward her children. The doctor is a seasoned Comrades, and ultra-marathon runner and a firm believer in enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS). She became a prime example of the success of this technique when she herself completed the Comrades merely ten days after major abdominal surgery.
Dr Claire Mitchell graduated with an MBChB from The University of Cape Town and received a diploma in Advanced Laparoscopy from The University of Strasbourg. She holds a Diploma in Obstetrics from The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) and is a Fellow of the South African College of Surgeons.
HONESTY & COMMUNICATION
All too often, patients are left not knowing – not knowing exactly what is wrong, not understanding why, and being misinformed about what to expect. One of her key differences is honesty - she believes in making sure that you, the patient, and your family have as much information as possible available to you at all times so that you are empowered to make the best decisions regarding your care.
DIGNITY & RESPECT
Your dignity is sacrosanct. It must be maintained at all times.
HARD WORK & DEDICATION
"I love what I do, and I do what I love." Dr Mitchell is passionate about surgery and values your trust and your health above all else.
