Specialist General Surgeon
Dr Mitchell is a Johannesburg-based specialist surgeon with extensive experience in general surgical conditions, surgical emergencies, endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid, breast and adrenal surgery), as well as melanoma, soft tissue tumours (including lumps & bumps) and neck surgery. She has spent many hours successfully treating patients at Chris Hani Baragwaneth Hospital in Soweto, the largest hospital in the Southern Hemisphere. She ran the Endocrine Surgery department at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital and she has been actively involved in a number of research projects and publications. Her special interest is in minimally-invasive surgery and she has completed numerous workshops and courses in laparoscopic surgery, as well as a workshop run by Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.
